Since December ‘07 I’ve been working in an office environment and it’s just crazy how much wastage of equipment you see, not just in your offices, but in the surrounding offices as well!
All this wastage isn’t good for the environment as more usage of products means more items produced which means more natural resources are used.
If we all just saved a little here and there and made ourselves aware of what was happening then we surely could save a certain part of the rainforests. As well as helping us in our present time, it will help our future generations to come as well.
You hear a lot about recycling and the likes these days and I think that’s great. Just think how much better it would be if we didn’t use that many resources in the first place?
Here’s my little tip which we’ve set up in our office as well. It’s three simple words… Are you ready…?
Double… Sided… Printing.
Yup. That’s all it is. Double sided printing.
Here are some of the positives:
- You use less paper meaning:
+ You use less postage because the weight is lower due to less paper in the envelope (thus saving you MORE money)
+ You spend less time getting up to go and fill paper in the printer.
+ You order less, saving on resources and time which can be invested elsewhere
+ It’s FREE to do!
There are lots more positives to printing double-sided. The main thing is to get people in the office motivated and excited about this. Most people may not even know that it’s possible! If you make people aware, you’re one step closer!
If you’re not the computer engineer for the office or you’re unsure about how to set this up, let me know or contact your IT helpdesk. For large offices with multiple locations, you may need the IT helpdesk to install some extra drivers.
Good luck! Any questions, just drop me a message!
